— Children’s Cancer Fund will host its 20th Annual “Beyond the Rainbow” Luncheon and Fashion Show, themed “Today’s Challenges are Tomorrow’s Paradise” on Friday, March 28, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. (reception and silent auction at 10:00 a.m.) in the Landmark Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Dallas Hotel.

Honorary Co-Chairs Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach will join an impressive lineup of corporate sponsors, celebrity escorts, and local media to present children undergoing treatment for cancer at Children’s Medical Center and pediatric cancer survivors in a spectacular runway show, sponsored by Fashion Presenter Dillard’s, Inc. KDFW FOX4 News anchors Steve Eagar and Clarice Tinsley will serve as Masters of Ceremonies.

Proceeds from the event will go to Children’s Cancer Fund to help advance pediatric cancer research and treatment programs at Children’s Medical Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Numerous celebrities will join in the celebration at this year’s event to serve as runway escorts for the Children’s patients modeling in the fashion show, including: former Dallas Cowboys’ quarterbacks Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach; Linda Armstrong Kelly, author of “No Mountain High Enough: Raising Lance, Raising Me” and mother of cyclist Lance Armstrong; Willa Ford Modano, singer and former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant; Miss Texas Molly Hazlett; artist and cancer survivor Olivia Bennett; current Dallas Cowboys players; Dallas Stars Ice Girls; Dallas SWAT team members; and representatives from the local media.

This year’s event will also feature a live and silent auction for luxury prizes including: a summer trip to Colorado, featuring roundtrip tickets for four and a seven-day stay at a luxury condo at Copper Mountain Resort; a one-of-a-kind painting, created by participating kids from Children’s and Dallas-based artist Christopher Martin; a Dallas Stars game package, including a suite at American Airlines Center and tickets for 18 to the Dallas vs. San Jose game on April 6; a private tour of the set of “Prison Break” on FOX; and a luxurious retreat for pampered pets featuring a $1,000 gift certificate to Tailwaggers Country Inn, a $1,000 gift certificate for Muenster All-Natural Pet Food from Muenster Milling Co., and a custom charcoal pet drawing.

Disgusted2 says:

Well I am disgusted that a charity would allow themselves to be affiliated with someone that is in the PORN industry. Willa Ford Modano, also known as Mandy Modano, Amanda Willaford and Willa Ford, has been in the PORN industry for several years now. I don't know about you, but I refuse to let my money be affiliated with trash like that and I suggest that this charity and other's in the DFW area do their homework for future "celebrities" that attend their events. And by the way, she's not a real celebrity in any right. It's ridiculous that everyone has been kissing her ass. She's a nobody! A z-lister at best and the only thing she seems to be able to do is take her clothes off and have sex on film (for money). I think that there's a name for that, it's called prostitution. White trash!

Disgusted...If people taking their clothes off for money are, according to you, 'trash', can trophy wives in Dallas be re-cycled?

I removed the review "Disgusted" quoted, since it's available here: http://www.tlavideo.com/product/1-0-2...

Trivia: she's Mike Modano's wife, according to Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willa_Ford

In any case, I suspect she's no more evil than your typical celebrity-- even if you accept the argument that porn must be denied for the sake of our souls.

Alex Bentley says:

I'd also argue that an R-rated movie, even one with "strong sexual content and nudity," is hardly porn. Does that mean Ford's a woman of high, upstanding character? Maybe, maybe not, but she's acting, not having actual sex on film. Maybe that line's too thin for Disgusted, but the line's still there.

Disgusted2 says:

It is not just the participation of the movie she was in, "Impulse." The fact of the matter is that she's been participating in other forms of pornography for years, to and including Playboy. What she does to make a buck is her business obviously. My point is that she's representing a charity that benefits various programs for CHILDREN with cancer. Having someone like her doing this is not appropriate. There are better role models within the community that could be a part of this event. As a mother, I would NOT want my child near trash like her. And I don't plan on supporting this event if she is to attend. My money spends just as well with other charities that don't have people associated with pornography representing them.

maybe just me, but if it would cure kids of cancer, I'd pay to see Charles Manson. Even if he'd done porn.

Rawlins Gilliland says:

And Orren, whadaya bet 'Disgusted' would echo your words if her child had cancer. (Not to mention unaffordable treatment with or w/o insurance.) I'm always amazed by the self-righteous who point fingers and type hype after a glass of Chardonnay. This is the best example I've seen lately of misplaced 'outrage'. Anyone wanting a better target can email me for a list. From my vantage point, the last few years have been fertile ground for pertinent disgust rather than La La Land castanet tongue clucking over who and isn’t a qualified altruist.

Disgusted2 says:

Actually, I have lost several of my friends and family members to cancer. So it's not the point of having organizations out there to help find a cure or provide treatment, it's the representation that this charity is using to promote their cause. Most charities are very careful when it comes to sensitive issues such as not having people affiliated with the porn industry be public images for their charity because they do not want the negative association that it will give their charity or for the large monetary donations to discontinue. That's my point.

DC says:

Holy Jeebus. I suppose we should also protest promoting breaking out of prison, too?

If those kids get a couple of smiles and some dollars get thrown around for some decent research go to it.

I could go further into this, but I think what we are seeing here is further evidence of the need for Dallas to just have a huge E fueled 1999 style orgy and get it over with all ready.

Just a little too much repression tension going around.

Hey, in the interest of avoiding celluloid porno stars, why not join me and my tail wagger 'Honey' in the hairy flesh. Fool...I'm talking about Dog Daze at the PegasusNews.com Conviviality Centr this afternoon. Or as it may come to me called by those who want any good cause to be hosted by nuns with no al dente attendees, "Strut your S'Mutt".

Hmmm, not a bad idea. I could go for some onion rings and a SN.

Perhaps something in a jug marked 'XXX' would be fitting.

Pavel Lishin says:

I'm not a parent, but I don't think having a child near a porn star would miraculously turn the child into a crack-smoking prostitot. However, if digging up Hitler's corpse, duct-taping it to the front of my car and playing "DEUTSCHLAND UBER ALLES" at top volume cured my (hypothetical) child's cancer, I'd be out buying shovels right now.

But don't worry, Disgusted, I'm sure the charity is crying and panicking right now, knowing they won't be receiving your annual $20 donation.

Scott Doyle says:

holy lol @ prostitot

Considering I doubt that everybody involved with the charity doesn't view porn, I'm not sure what the hubbub is. I didn't know having ties to porn was one of those things that you ostracize someone over. Either way, until she's actually showing kids porn, what does it matter?

Robert Kelly says:

It doesn't. It's just typical that people trying to help get called out for their 'morality' by the God snobs instead of being applauded for their efforts 'What would Jesus do?' indeed!

Actually she does contribute to showing minors pornography (film & photos from her Playboy spread) via her website.

I won't say I KNOW Mandy (aka Willa, etc.) but I have met her several times over the past several years at various charity events and she is a very nice lady. Believe me, I've met plenty of celebs who are full of themself. She has always been very approachable and friendly. I will be attending the Children’s Cancer Fund Fashion Show and fully support their efforts. As has so eloquently been said above, I would do a lot less savory things to help kids battling cancer. It's not about the celebs...they're just gracious enough to volunteer their time...it's all about the kids (cancer patients) that get to accompany the celebs down the runway.

Mike Orren says:

Y'know, I was really down on Disgusted's commentary here. Then I saw the trailer for the new Anna Nicole Smith biopic starring Willa Ford on one of the weekend roundup shows:

<object height="355" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IEon9IGYabM"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><embed height="355" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/IEon9IGYabM" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" wmode="transparent"></object>

For this alone, maybe she should be persona non grata for a decade or so.
