Senior Matt Hansen from Alvarado, Texas , has been named the NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week for his effort during the week of February 4-10.
Hansen, who is an integral part of the DBU's Track and Field Team, has done nothing but improve over his four seasons with the Patriots. It all came together this past week when Hansen won his first race.
Hansen won the 5000m edging out teammate Felix Rodriguez by two seconds in a time of 15:07 to Rodriguez's 15:09. Both running shared the lead throughout the race before Hansen pulled away on the last 200m lap. The time is 19 seconds faster than Hansen ran on January 26 at the MSSU Indoor Invite.
Head Coach Jacob Phillips said, "Matt is true competitor and has done a great job in leading the team this year as a Senior. I expect great things from him for the rest of the season."

GWAR / Kingdom of Sorrow / Toxic Holocaust Only lead singer Oderus Urungus (aka Dave Brockie) has stuck around since GWAR's start 23 years ago, but the huge costumes, raunchy and obscene lyrics, and fluids spraying into the audience are sure to be on full display as the metal band makes its return to Dallas.
