Unfortunately for the Mavs, Nash was wearing his lucky underwear Thursday night
The Dallas Maverick's long list of injuries finally caught up with them Thursday night, as a depleted Dallas team lost to the Phoenix Suns 109-97 in Phoenix. Missing key players like Devin Harris, Josh Howard, and Jerry Stackhouse, the Mavericks essentially became a two-man team trying valiantly to defeat the Western Conference-leading Suns. Unfortunately, the loss dropped the Mavericks to 35-18, two games behind the Suns for home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.
The Mavericks were led by Dirk Nowitzki, who led all scorers with 36 points playing against his old buddy and former teammate Steve Nash. Nowitzki took a surprisingly high 31 shots, making 12, while also collecting 12 rebounds and four assists.
Dirk was helped by Jason Terry, who put up 29 points. No other Maverick had more than nine points.
Steve Nash, who was missing only new Sun Shaquille O'Neal, had a typically Nashesque game of 24 points, 6 rebounds and 13 assists.
