Women’s basketball: Chapman 63, University of Dallas 50
Friday night marked the second to last home game for the Lady Crusaders and the beginning of the WBCA's Think Pink weekend commemorating women affected by breast cancer. The Lady Crusaders lost 63-50 to the Chapman University Panthers for the second time this season.
Two Lady Crusaders scored in double digits – freshman guard Ashley Holder (Crawford, TX/Crawford H.S.) with 14 points and freshman forward Cara Sczepanski (Highland Village, TX/Marcus H.S.) with 12 – and UD put up a strong fight against Chapman. Holder also added 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 steal, while Sczepanski added 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, and 2 steals. Freshman guard Bethany Roessler (Phoenix, AZ/Xavier College Prep) contributed 4 rebounds, 2 points, 3 assists and 5 steals, while freshman forward Meagan Johnson (Plano, TX/Carrollton Christian Academy) hauled in 5 rebounds, and dished out 1 assist while scoring 8 points.
The Lady Crusaders play again on home court this Sunday February 17, 2008 at 2:00pm against the UC-Santa Cruz Banana Slugs. The contest is the final home game for the Lady Crusaders and their 3 seniors.
