COLLEYVILLE Cynthia Dunham, 50, of 4800 Stafford Drive, Colleyville, left her black 2007 BMW X5 SUV unlocked and, sometime between midnight and 8 a.m. Sunday, someone stole her various obscenely-priced junk, including a $1,000 Louis Vuitton purse, a $550 Louis Vuitton wallet, a $300 Louis Vuitton day planner (this is the problem when you go too matchy-matchy), $500 Coach prescription sunglasses, drivers license, social security card (who carries that around?), five -- as in f-i-v-e, as in, shop-a-holic much? -- credit cards, and $280 in cash. Being robbed sucks no matter who you are, but these thieves appear to have stolen from someone who can clearly afford it.

you gave out her address?? ... so now someone else can go there tonight and see if anything else is left in the unlocked car (assuming she hasn't learned)? She's lucky that's all that was stolen..

I think of this story as not so much encouraging thieves to stalk her house for a few weeks, as encouraging her to lock her doors and not leave crap in her car.
Come on, people. Maybe I live in a poor, crime-infested area, but I see those "LOCK - TAKE - HIDE" signs everywhere. Except the first time, I thought it said "LOOK, TAKE, HIDE" and thought it was a how-to for stealing things from cars...

I hate those signs, and that they were the city's great alternative to actual effective policing. Every time I see one I consider that they ought to read "LOCK - TAKE - HIDE - COWER".

Matt...it's called taking responsibility for yourself. The police can't be everywhere at once.

I wonder how long before these obscenely matchy matchy designer goods get listed for sale on Craigslist?
