Dallas schools struggling to squeeze phys ed requirements into schooldays

Schools in Texas are having to squeeze time for physical education into the regular schoolday, says the DMN, which cites Irving, where students twist and stretch while they sing in music class, and Richardson, where they do push-ups in between tests.

In 2001, the wording of the law in Texas changed so that it now says students have to endure a certain amount of "physical activity" versus "physical education". More than a third of children in Texas are overweight.
