DFW International Community Alliance is proud to present the 2nd Annual Fiesta Latinoamericana! on Saturday April 19, 2008 at the Amphitheater at Oak Point in Plano. The evening starts at 5:00 pm with a free Family Fiesta!, with Latin American storytelling, folkloric dance workshops from Chile/Spain/Argentina/Mexico, Capoeira (Brazilian martial arts), mimes and Afro-Latino drumming. The multimedia show that begins at 8 p.m. features dance, live music, theater, and film. Tickets are $10 for adults, free for children, and may be purchased at the gate or online at www.dfwinternational.org/FiestaLatinoamericana.

The Fiesta Latinoamericana is sponsored by the City of Plano, Univision 23 and Al Dia. This year the program will be built around these four great literary figures:

MEXICO: Carlos Fuentes

SPAIN: Miguel Hernandez

CHILE: Victor Jara

ARGENTINA: Horacio Quiroga

Food will be available for purchase, and coolers, lawn chairs and picnics are welcome. Plano’s Creative Arts Manager Jim Wear says, “The City of Plano, through the Special Events Program, is a proud supporter of Fiesta Latinoamericana. Plano is a city of great diversity, and it is critical to our mission that we celebrate all the cultures that enrich our community. The City is also delighted that the event will take place this year in and around the beautiful Amphitheater at Oak Point Park--a perfect setting for families to come and enjoy the food, the performances and the fellowship!”

Preceding the performances, free workshops for children include: storytelling, dance, capoeira, mimes, and drumming. Participating arts groups include:
