FRISCO The Frisco Thunder lost its first player before its second day of pre-season practice Monday evening, but it was a good thing: LB Chris Glen was selected by Team Texas in the All-American Football League’s supplemental draft.
Glen (5-11,225) was the 57th player selected Saturday and the 357th overall. The AAFL begins its inaugural season in April.
“I think it’s great,’’ said Thunder coach Troy Esprit. “Even though Chris didn’t play a down for us, it amped up some of the other guys seeing one of their own getting a chance to play at the next level. This is what this league is all about.’”
In other news, Monday’s practice was the first in helmets and shoulder pads.
“It was another good day of practice,” Esprit said. “Guys are starting to catch on to what we expect from them.”
Having a good day Monday was former TCU running back Ricky Madison
“He’s going to a triple threat,” Esprit said of Madison. “Running back, wide receiver and kick returner.”

Akira Sato Jazz trumpeter Akira Sato, by way of Tokyo, Japan and Vancouver, Canada, is an SMU faculty member and director of The Meadow Jazz Orchestra at SMU. He is also an adjunct faculty member at UNT where he teaches jazz arranging. Sato is also heading into the studio soon with other area musicians and playing at the Scat Jazz Lounge tonight. With all that he's up to, the least you could do is order a Scotch on the rocks and chill to some tunes. (Photo by flickr user arteunporro. More info
