UPDATED: Hillary Chelsea Clinton to visit, chat up UT Dallas, UT Arlington and UNT
On Wednesday the 20th a las 10:30 a.m., former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton will speak at the University of Texas at Dallas - her first stop in the Lone Star state on behalf of her mother's race to the White House.
Regardless of your political persuasion, all in all, Chelsea has done a good job of avoiding negative publicity, despite things people say.
With her father already hitting up Richardson—and with said candidate mother campaigning in the nether regions of the state (tiny places like "Houston")—Chelsea will visit with students and collected D-FWites in the university's Student Union area (Google map).
Chelsea's handlers (an unofficial term but better than others) emphasized that the UTD gathering aims to be more of a Q&A than a rally.
"Her people tell me it's very important to Chelsea that the visit be very informal," said Samia Hossain, president of the UTD Democrats who will be hosting the event. "She's very against a lecture format and things like that. She doesn't even want a stage - just a place to talk with people."
Coincidentally(?), the engagement shindig begins at the same time on Wednesday as Barack Obama's rally at Reunion Arena.
Meanwhile, the "Hillary Clinton for President" campaign set up its headquarters last night. Hillary is expected in Dallas within the next week.
