Mesquite Community Theatre is back and ready to begin their new season this weekend with The Sugar Bean Sisters. You may have caught this show in 2007 in Addison when WaterTower produced it, but now Mesquite will be taking it on with their own production. The show runs from February 22 - March 8 and is directed by Peggy Baumgardner & Howard Hughes.

Written by Nathan Sanders, the production is set in Sugar Bean, Florida where the swamp is populated with snakes, ‘gators, flying cats, apparitions, UFOs, a reptile woman, a mysterious Bishop and three very obsessed spinster sisters: Faye wants to escape Sugar Bean forever on an alien spaceship, Willie Mae wants to escape spinster hood by finding a good Mormon husband, a la the Bishop Crumley, and Videllia just wants to escape with her sister’s hidden treasure. The story takes the audience on a wild and unpredictable ride through human emotions that explore and exploit the foibles, fears and fantasies of our species.
