Undercover officer’s story about fatal shooting may not add up

Senior Cpl. Raymond Dominguez, 28, said that he thought Shawn Watson was reaching for a gun when he shot and killed him last September. There may be some discrepancy in his story, however, because Watson was shot in the back.

Cpl. Dominguez was undercover, attempting to expose a prostitution ring in far east Dallas, when he made some bad decisions and put himself in a dangerous situation. When the criminals he intended on exposing allegedly turned on him, Cpl. Dominguez shot one of them. Investigators are attempting to piece together the events from the night, but acknowledge that fear and other factors may be affecting Cpl. Dominguez's ability to recount the details.
