Lewisville ISD calls May 10 bond election
LEWISVILLE The Lewisville Independent School District's Board of Trustees unanimously voted Wednesday to call a Bond Election this May with two propositions totaling $776 million.
The first bond package includes $697 million for three new elementary schools, two middle schools, a new stadium, natatorium, career center, and other capital improvements.
Three ninth grade centers and one ninth and tenth grade center are also planned.
"Ninth grade centers are effective for students, especially those enrolled in schools of more than 2,500 students," said LISD Superintendent Dr. Jerry Roy.
Proposition 2 includes a $79 million special events center.
If passed, the bond should fund projects to accommodate the school district through 2014, which is two years away from projected residential build-out, officials said.
