TCU men's tennis player Emanu Brighiu was named the Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday. Brighiu went a combined 4-0 in his first collegiate action to help lead the Horned Frogs to wins over two ranked opponents to remain unbeaten on the season.

In his first singles contest of the season, Brighiu started slow, but stormed back to win the next two sets by a score of 6-0, 6-1, as TCU passed its first test of the season against No. 42 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

On Sunday, Brighiu teamed up with Adrian Simon to topple the 11th-ranked Texas Tech duo of Breler and Markovic to capture the crucial doubles point that would be the difference in the match.

Brighiu, a native of Iasi, Romania, followed with a straight-sets victory over Texas Tech's Lenoir Ramos to even the match at 3-3 in TCU's upset victory.

The selection is the second consecutive for TCU, as Cosmin Cotet earned the weekly honors last week.

The Frogs will return to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. when they play host to No. 66 Minnesota, followed by a Sunday home contest against No. 15 Oklahoma State at 2 p.m.
