Interview with Shawn Gann, Director of Anna in the Tropics
Teatro de la Rosa is presenting the Tarrant County premiere of Nilo Cruz's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Anna in the Tropics. Shawn Gann is directing, so I took the opportunity to feature him and find out more about the show and Fort Worth's only Hispanic theater company.
We start off by talking about his career and how he became involved with Teatro de la Rosa.
Anna in the Tropics
- When: Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, 7:30 p.m.
- Where: Rose Marine Theater, 1440 North Main Street, Fort Worth
- Cost: $7 - $12
- Age limit: All ages
Since this is one of his first times directing such a large production, he talks about the challenges and obstacles he has faced.
I ask him how Anna in the Tropics was chosen as part of the season and what attracted him to this piece. He talks about the show's significance to a Fort Worth audience. We end by talking about what he wants the audience to feel after watching the show.
Anna in the Tropics runs from February 22 - March 9 and tickets can be purchased online or by calling 817-624-8333.

GWAR / Kingdom of Sorrow / Toxic Holocaust Only lead singer Oderus Urungus (aka Dave Brockie) has stuck around since GWAR's start 23 years ago, but the huge costumes, raunchy and obscene lyrics, and fluids spraying into the audience are sure to be on full display as the metal band makes its return to Dallas.
