DALLAS The media-obsessed quadrant of the Interwebs is all abuzz with the news that The Daily Newspaper has posted PDFs of the newly-released JFK assassination files from the DA's office and is seeking reader help in piling through them for gems of enlightenment. Media thinkers call this practice crowdsourcing.
Documents went up Friday afternoon, and so far response is minimal. A discussion forum set up for the topic currently has no posts, and of the twenty responses in the poll set up, most either say there's nothing there or complain that the scanned documents are upside down.
So are the News-ies visionaries of digital reporting? Or did they find themselves with boxloads of much-ado-about-nothing documents and decide to foist them off on the Interwebs to see if anyone would do anything with them? The truth is out there...

Akira Sato Jazz trumpeter Akira Sato, by way of Tokyo, Japan and Vancouver, Canada, is an SMU faculty member and director of The Meadow Jazz Orchestra at SMU. He is also an adjunct faculty member at UNT where he teaches jazz arranging. Sato is also heading into the studio soon with other area musicians and playing at the Scat Jazz Lounge tonight. With all that he's up to, the least you could do is order a Scotch on the rocks and chill to some tunes. (Photo by flickr user arteunporro. More info

Visionaries? Hardly.
In Doyle's opinion, crowdsourcing sends a somewhat negative connotation that Miko implied in closing. Considering it's been 45 years since the assassination, time isn't exactly of the essence. And the DMN reports on useless crap all the time - resources shouldn't be a problem.
DMN is slapping their due diligence in the face. They're not patriots! Slackers!! [insert other random jabs]
