La Condesa Mexican restaurant now open in Dallas’ Victory Park
Victory Park now has "Mexican cuisine" covered with La Condesa, which opened three weeks ago on Olive Street.
The restaurant is authentic Mexican, according to the manager who answered the phone on Monday, with Arizona chef Michael Stevens in the kitchen, and a full bar with 60 tequilas and Mexican beers, the only domestic being Miller Lite and Shiner. There's a tequila lounge with 22 tables and music that's "more upbeat, what's hot now, not Tejano."
Signature dishes include nachos Anaya appetizer -- "traditional nachos like you'd find in Mexico, not like the queso-covered ones" sold at baseball games and convenience stores, according to that manager. Also, says he, their burger comes with cheddar cheese and a poblano-chipotle mayonnaise on soft challah roll. Pollo Dominguero is a rotisserie half-chicken, served with fries, and they do the au courant grilled corn dusted with chile powder and cojita cheese.
The restaurant is no relation to the already-existing La Condesa on Maple Avenue in Little Mexico (also sometimes referred to as Taqueria La Condesa), which had the name first.
"They are not associated with us," said the manager, "I don't know if there is one off Maple with our name, as far as how popular they are."

Um, didn't Victory Park actually already have Mexican food covered with the presence of Luna de Noche? I believe LdN has been in operation at Victory since last summer.
I'm a fan of the original La Condesa since they deliver to The Grapevine.

Rawlins Redux here: Although a genuine fan of Javier’s and other ‘upscale’ Mexican: I feel an obligation to encourage readers to experience the adventure and education of various Mexican fare citywide.
If you want real Mexican food, from any region of Mexico or tried-and-true Tex-Mex, probably there are 100,000 Mexican nationals in Dallas (minimum), especially in southeast Dallas and Oak Cliff, west Dallas, etc. For instance: South of my home, I could actually walk from Mexican Restaurant to Mexican Restaurant and in the course of 1 mile visit maybe 25. I have yet to get anything other than wonderful and honest Mexican food at any of them. Hand made and directly competitive with the other neighborhood options.
So the idea of spending more than $7 after hunting for a parking space and then navigate a see-and-be scene crowd to eat Mexican sounds a little like wearing a tuxedo to go to Sam's. But hey, whatever floats your lifeboat.

I would like to start off by saying "Do not ever go to this place".The service was terrible,our waitress had the personality of a dead run over dog.She had no idea what was on the menu told us one thing came back" we are out".While she was standing against the wall someone else brought the food.The story ends with the enchiladas were cold on the inside,if you are a vegetarian the beans are made with chicken stock.The manager came over but the damage was done.We had four shots of patron gold and four miller lites we thought were given to us by the miller guy but were on our tab 66.00 and we still tipped the horrible methed out waitress.Do not recommend. You are better off going to harry hines and getting REAL mexican food. Definately overpriced.Horrible service!!!

We went to this place right before a Dallas Mavericks game and have to say we had a good time. The food was great, our waitress was engaging, and we had a chance to meet the manager as well. He welcomed us back and even handed out a few coupons for free queso (honestly, the queso was AMAZING). We don't get down to Victory Park as much as we'd like to, but we'll definitely go back - great place!
