UNT basketball’s Dennis earns player of the week

Collin Dennis earned his second award of the year, solidifying himself as the the Sun Belt Conference’s top newcomer.

Collin Dennis solidified himself as the Sun Belt Conference’s top newcomer, earning his second Player of the Week award after a pair of dominating performances.

Dennis’ two Player of the Week wins combined with Josh White’s pair, gives the Mean Green four for the season – tops among all Sun Belt teams.

The junior helped North Texas finish off a pair of season sweeps against ULM and Arkansas State by averaging 18.0 points per game this week. He tallied 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting versus the Indians.

For the week, Dennis hit 13-of-20 (65.0 percent) of his field goal attempts, including 8-of-10 (80.0 percent) from beyond the arc.

Against ULM, Dennis showed his defensive prowess in a 72-40 beating of the Warhawks, which is the largest margin of defeat in Fant-Ewing Coliseum history. Dennis tallied a pair of steals and four rebounds to go with 12 points at ULM.

Dennis and the Mean Green return to action this week at Louisiana-Lafayette on Thursday and at New Orleans on Saturday.
