UPDATED: Grand Jury declines to indict Southlake police leaders
City Manager Shana Yelverton may hire two former FBI agents to investigate allegations of misconduct.
Some Southlake police officers allege that leaders within the Southlake Department of Public Safety have been favoring high profile residents and not pursuing charges against "known-criminals." The Tarrant County Grand Jury reviewed the complaints and have decided not to indict anyone within the department, citing that the complaints were not of a criminal nature, but a matter of management within the department. City Manager Shana Yelverton may hire two former FBI agents to investigate the allegations and provide recommendations to improve the department. If the allegations are found to be true, they may be submitted to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
UPDATE: Tonight (March 18) the Southlake City Council is expected to approve funding for City Manager Shana Yelverton's investigation into complaints.
