Obama tells Kraddick “Jonas Brothers are on my daughter’s wall”

IRVING — Appearing Thursday on nationally-syndicated morning radio show Kidd Kraddick in the Morning, Democratic Presidential front-runner Barack Obama told Kidd that he recently discovered that his oldest daughter Malia is a Jonas fanatic. “I didn’t know who these guys were,” said Obama, “and I come home one day and Malia has all these pre-pubescent boys on her wall.”

The popular wake-up show spent fifteen minutes with the candidate just a few days before the pivotal Texas and Ohio primaries. “Our show is syndicated across both those states (among others),” Kraddick explained, “and I think it was really smart for him to agree to come on the show.”

In what he characterized as the “toughest question I’ve given you,” show host Kidd Kraddick asked Obama if he would use his influence as a presidential candidate to “secure better seats for Malia and Sasha for the Jonas Brothers”.

Kraddick said he was happy to get the question in. “I didn’t want to come off all ‘Meet the Press’. The Senator and I both have daughters so I wanted to see if his home was invaded by the Jonas Brothers like mine has been.” Obama’s answer revealed that he had asked the question that no doubt many fathers have asked. “I said, “Who are these guys,” Obama recounted, “and how many pictures of them do you need on your wall?”

Members of the show jumped on the opportunity to let the candidate know that this was one area where the influence was all theirs. Co-host Kellie Rasberry told Obama, “We could hook them up. Maybe even backstage passes!” Obama appeared to nip the suggestion in the bud. “No, I am not going to be telling my daughters that I’m with the Jonas Brothers.” Co-host Big Al Mack did his best to persuade. “We could take a motorcade to the Jonas Brothers. How big would that be?”

On a more serious note, Rasberry addressed the email chains that accuse Obama of being sworn in on the Koran and not saluting the American flag.

“Look, to make sure everybody has the record straight,” Obama stated, “I am not a Muslim. I have never been a Muslim and I’ve gone to the same church...for the last twenty years. I was sworn into the United State Senate on the family Bible. I’ve been pledging allegiance since I was three years old. Sometimes I lead the Senate in pledging allegiance when I open up the Senate of the presiding officers.” Kraddick wondered aloud if the candidate had a theory of where the falsehoods were originating. Obama responded, “They’ve been churned out by somebody. You know it’s the classic dirty tricks in politics that we have been seeing for a long time.”

Off air, Kraddick said that his staff has been working to secure interviews with all the remaining candidates. “We’re not a political show by any stretch,” Kraddick said, “but I do think it would be cool to hear from all the candidates.” He went on to say that while McCain’s camp turned down the request “at least for the time being,” Senator Clinton’s press team was “enthusiastic about the opportunity and they say they’re working to set up something.”

As for setting up something with the Jonas Brothers, Kraddick says that’s a possibility too. Obama’s Texas appearance this week coincides with the popular group’s tour stop in Dallas. Kraddick hinted that he’d like to arrange a meeting. “We have a pretty good relationship with the guys and I think it would be amazing if Malia could meet her heroes.” So far, no word from Obama’s camp if the candidate is receptive to the idea. The senator says that all in all, there are worse role models to worry about. “They actually seem like good young men.”
