Texas Woman’s University sophomore pitcher Carly Case has been named the Lone Star Conference South Division Pitcher of the Week (for the week of Feb. 17-24) for her efforts in the circle at the Henderson State University Diamond Reddie tournament last weekend.

Case, a native of Bowie, Texas and a transfer from Western Texas College, was the winning pitcher in two of the Pioneers’ three victories at the round-robin tournament. On Friday, February 22, she held a hard-hitting HSU Lady Reddie team to just five hits and one earned run in a complete game 2-1 TWU victory. On Saturday, February 23, she pitched five-innings of no-hit ball in a 4-3 Pioneer win over Texas A&M-University Kingsville.

Case is now 4-5 on the season with a 2.75 ERA, eight complete games, one shutout, and 41 strikeouts.

The Pioneer softball team, winners of three out of their last four games, will return to the field on Thursday, February 28, when they travel to Durant, Oklahoma for an afternoon doubleheader at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. TWU will then open the Lone Star Conference South Division portion of their 2008 schedule with three games this weekend (Friday, February 29, 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 1, 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.) at Pioneer Field.
