Echo Theatre presents free performance readings of provocative and entertaining scripts by some of the most interesting women playwrights of the past and present each season. For Spring 2008, the reading series will celebrate the spirit of the Triple Goddess. In ancient mythologies the aspects of this Trinity -- the Maiden, the Mother and the Crone -- symbolized birth-death-rebirth and mind-body-spirit. The three plays explore the zest, the nurturing, and the wisdom from life experience that correspond to each of these stages of a woman's life. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. with a brief discussion with the director and cast following each reading:
- Till Voices Wake Us on March 25, 2008. By Louella Dizon. A young girl meets her Filipino grandmother and discovers the truth about her mysterious dreams. A magic and poetic journey.
- Waving Goodbye on April 15, 2008. By Jamie Pachino. After the tragic death of her father, Lily Blue must get to know the mother who abandoned her. A boldly theatrical story about love, loss and art.
- Waiting to be Invited on May 13, 2008. By S.M. Shephard-Massat. In 1961 Atlanta, four women decide to stage a sit-in at a White's Only lunch counter. A funny and moving look at the bravery of ordinary American women.
