Kettle Art to host Deep Ellum Film Night

This Saturday (Jan. 5) at 7 p.m., the doors will open on Kettle Art's special Deep Ellum Film Night event, billed as "a look back at Deep Ellum through film."

There is no admission charge, and while the projector won't kick into gear until 8 p.m., you might want to wander in early to browse the gallery and delve into the refreshment selection.

On tap for the screening are such notable Ellum-related films as an Alan Govenar blues reel, a Spector 45 music video, scenes from Amy Talkington's Night of the White Pants (in particular those filmed at Double Wide), an historical short on Deep Ellum made by Mark Birnbaum, a Polyphonic Spree video, a Frank Campagna mural retrospective and a slew of other film clips, including art promos and student documentaries.

With a lineup like this, there should be something to please just about everyone who attends. For the rest of you, I suggest concentrating on the refreshments.
