Little Elm issues “high fire danger” alert
On New Year's Eve, the town of Little Elm was placed under a red flag or "high fire danger" warning from the National Weather Service.
As such, Little Elm issued a reminder that fireworks are strictly prohibited within the town and that all outdoor burning has been suspended until further notice.
"It is extremely important that all fires, regardless of size," they say "are called into 911 immediately as fires can double in size in less than a minute."
"But New Year's is over. Why the late warning?" you might be asking.
Well, generally, from my years of living in the D-FW area, it seems the average enthusiastic citizen either does not know when New Year's is or, more likely, simply uses the holiday as an excuse to play with fireworks, whether it be 10:00 p.m. on December 30th or 4:00 in the morning in the middle of January.
