UT Dallas looking to create gay-friendly sleeper cell
Topics include forming alliances and world domination. Light refreshments will be served.
UT Dallas will be hosting a Project Ally Training session on Friday, January 25th, from 12:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the Student Union Galaxy Rooms.
"Ally training," it seems, is training that one can undertake to become better equipped to serve as an ally to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning community.
According to UT Dallas, ally training "seeks to establish a university-wide network of visible allies who are willing to offer a supportive and inclusive environment to everyone by educating UTD students, faculty, and staff on inclusive language, issues affecting LGBTQ campus community, campus-wide resources, and events related to SAFE ZONE," a non-profit organization.
Upon completion of the training, "allies" will sign an agreement (to refrain from discrimination, one would assume) and receive a SAFE ZONE logo sticker.
UTD says displaying the logo "advances progress," but it sounds eerily familiar . . .

When did they add "Questioning?" I'm so used to the GLBT acronym, now I gotta put a "Q" at the end. No sweat though, anything to include "questioning" friends in the GLBTQ community.

Does a Safe Zone sticker on my windshield mean I can run red lights?
With gay abandon, of course....

Chad, if you were going for the Nazi joke, you could have used the pink triangle.
But in all seriousness, gay students are often the targets of harassment in school settings, even "liberal" colleges. It is nice to know you have friends you can go to in the event something like that happens.
What I'm curious about is, how in the world is someone still using tripod.com for their website hosting?
