Blue Mesa Grill offering up Tacos for a Cause
If you’ve already broken every New Year’s resolution there still is a chance to redeem yourself — and there’s food involved!
Tacos to be exact. Each month, the Blue Mesa Grill offers a different gourmet “Chef Taco of the Month” as the featured dish in their Tacos for a Cause campaign.
Tacos for a Cause was begun by the restaurant’s founders Liz and Jim Baron about two years ago to help out those charities that always need a little extra funding. One dollar of the special gourmet taco is donated to the campaign.
Since starting the campaign, the list of charities has grown. Today, it includes baal dan, a non-profit started in 2006 that helps the poorest children in India with food, clothing, medicine and books.
Other charities are the Vogel Alcove where children of Dallas’ homeless are cared for in a quality childcare center; the Lena Pope Home that provides a range of services for families in crisis; and the Carroll Education Foundation that puts funds to use to expand programs in the Carroll Independent School District in their quest to achieve educational excellence goals.
As of November 2007, the Tacos for a Cause has donated $65,262.
Soooo if you want to feel less guilty about breaking your New Year’s resolutions and want to know that you’re actually helping someone else because of your food choices, put in an order this month for the “Slow Roasted Honey-Ancho Chicken Tacos with Grilled Pineapple Pico.”
No denying it’s a dish that warms the heart as much as the stomach.
