Farmers Branch public invited to celebrate grand opening of fire station No. 3 Jan. 19
Located on the city's west side, just north of the intersection of Valley View Lane and Hutton Drive, the 19,000-square-foot facility will not only house a new fire station but is also the new home to Fire Department Administration and Training in the Bob Phelps Fire Administration Building.
FARMERS BRANCH The entire community is invited to join Fire Chief Kyle King and the members of the Farmers Branch Fire Department for the grand opening of fire station No. 3 on Saturday, Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Located on the city’s west side, just north of the intersection of Valley View Lane and Hutton Drive, the 19,000-square-foot facility will not only house a new fire station but is also the new home to Fire Department Administration and Training in the Bob Phelps Fire Administration Building. For more information, call the Farmers Branch Fire Department at 972-919-2640.
NEW SCULPTURE TO GRACE NEW FIRE HOUSE
As a crowning touch for the new Fire Administration Building, on the north end of the new complex, the Arts Foundation of Farmers Branch has commissioned a bronze sculpture of a Farmers Branch Firefighter that will soon stand on a pedestal beneath the flag. The Arts Foundation is seeking tax-deductible donations to help offset the cost of the sculpture, which is being created by Florida artist W. Stanley Proctor, producer of the "Poppies" sculpture at the Farmers Branch Veterans Walk of Honor. For more information about the Arts Foundation or to help, call Janie Scarbrough at 972-241-1898 or come by the table at the fire station No. 3 grand opening celebration.
A photo of the pre-cast sculpture, still in the artist’s studio, can be seen at this Web site.
