Updated: Shake-ups in local radio
Update: With Lex and Terry on air at 97.1 The Eagle beginning today, the 102.1 The Edge brought longtime DJ Jeff K (most recently heard as part of the station's weekend lineup) to fill the morning slot.
After Clear Channel finally came around and put 97.1 The Eagle back on the air, it's become a torrid little love triangle in local radio. People switching stations, shows... slots... that probably went too far. Grandpapa Wilonsky has the rundown over on Unfair Park, but the gist is this: it's all F'd up. The worst news? Lex and Terry are here to stay, taking over on The Eagle morning show. They'll even be simulcast on January 7 and 8 before the permanent switch on January 9. God help us.

So does the DJ have a talk show or is he just playing tunes in the morning? Guess I'll find out tomorrow...

I can guarantee you that if it's Jeff K doing mornings that the morning show will be music intensive. Jeff was and is one of the most solid on air personalities that knows how to effectively execute a musically intensive on air presentation. Most on air personalities think that people listen to a particular station because of the fact that "they" are on the air. When the truth of the matter is most people are loyal to the music first, the station second and then the on air personality. That will only change when that personality gives that person what they came for in the first place. Music. Personal Pet Peeve. Listening to a jock or jocks busting a gut at a less than funny bit. No body thinks their bits are as funny as most of these morning show folks. They must remember they are jocks, not comedians. Sam Kinnison and Rodney Dangerfield both told me...do what you do and we'll do what we do. Congrats Jeff K, it just goes to show you if you hang in long enough, the right thing will happen to the right person. Oh yeah, just push play.

I had a chance to work with jeff at Merge 93.3 (before it became The Bone'd), he is a consumate professional, an expert at what sounds great in alt rock and an all-around good guy. Im hoping they give him a "Adventure Club/Rock N Roll Alternative"-type show to showcase his skills. Why this guy isnt doing Sat radio (sirius/xm) at this point in his career is beyond me.
