Dallas County targets smoking vehicles
The Dallas County Commissioners Court today unanimously approved the formation of the Dallas County Clean Air Emissions Advisory Board. The Advisory Board will target high emitting vehicles operating with fraudulent emissions inspection stickers, the vehicle inspectors issuing fraudulent and fictitious stickers, and individuals illegally dealing fictitious and stolen stickers.
"The Clean Air Emissions Advisory Board is the first county-wide initiative in the state to target the inspectors and businesses conducting fraudulent emissions inspections," said Dallas County Judge Jim Foster. "We're moving ahead quickly, with law enforcement officers and prosecutors attending Texas Department of Public Safety training next week on vehicle inspections and investigation procedures."
The Commissioners Court appointed Foster to serve as the chairman of the Advisory Board. Additional members will consist of representatives from the Sheriff's Department, County Constables, District Attorney's Office, County Office of Budget & Evaluation, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
