Dallas-musician Pikahsso to present “Help the Homeless” event on February 1st
Koch Records recording artist Pikahsso is proud to present the "Pikahsso Helps the Homeless Community Event & Birthday Party" on his birthday, February 1st in Dallas. Instead of birthday gifts, the Dallas-native is asking attendees to bring old shoes, clothes, hats and gloves to the party to be donated to the homeless people in the area.
The "Pikahsso Helps the Homeless Community Event & Birthday Party" will take place at Space Studios, located at 2814 Main Street in the Deep Ellum Arts & Entertainment District east of downtown Dallas. Starting at 9 p.m., this free event will allow people to donate the requested articles of clothing to those less fortunate. Attendees will also enjoy great music in addition to networking as they gather to celebrate Pikahsso’s birthday and give back. Photographer Hal Samples, along with urban music executive and radio personality Vincent Tucker, will partner with Pikahsso for this epic event as they challenge everyone to think of others in 2008.
Pikahsso is one-third of the Dallas hip-hop super group P.P.T., which also includes producer/rapper Picnic and video director/rapper Tahiti. Signed to Koch thru Idol Records, the trio breaks all notions of the one dimensional nature of Southern hip-hop with their novel lyrics and infectious beats. They rose to prominence after winning the 2006 Official Dallas Mavericks playoff theme song contest with the song “Rowdy Loud and Proud.” After winning, P.P.T. performed the song in front of 20,000 fans during a playoff game that year. The group went on to release the critically acclaimed LP Tres Monos in Love in January 2007, featuring the hit “Frustrated”.
P.P.T. will headline the performances at The "Pikahsso Helps the Homeless Community Event & Birthday Party. The other artists that will perform will be announced shortly. All of the donated clothing items will be personally delivered by Pikahsso to a Dallas homeless shelter or agency that will properly distribute the clothes.
“I was inspired to do this after noticing a cold homeless man with dirty clothing and horrible looking shoes after leaving a convenience store recently,” states Pikahsso. “I decided that instead of me receiving gifts for my birthday, I wanted to give the gift of warmth to the people whom society as a whole has turned its back on.”
