Haltom family thinks city euthanized cat too soon

Email Print Tell us your story Comment

The Wolff's took in a stray cat that was incredibly emaciated and were in the process of nursing him back to health when he escaped from their yard. A neighbor called animal services who picked the animal up and euthanized him upon reaching the shelter. While typical policy allows owners 72 hours to claim animals, the city can euthanize any animal immediately if determined that the animal is considered to be suffering. The Wolff's, who tried to call the shelter the day he was lost, were told to call back the next day, but the animal had been put down by then. They are upset and think the shelter acted too quickly.
