UPDATED: Dallas Observer muckraker raises ethics question over fund-raising activities of DART Board chair Lynn Flint Shaw
Updated 04:04 p.m., January 30, 2008
DALLAS The Dallas Observer's Jim Schutze -- who is very busy today -- raises the issue of whether DART Board chair Lynn Flint Shaw is guilty of ethical violations by having served as treasurer of Friends of Tom Leppert, a political fund-raising committee. Here's the link to telltale campaign finance documents freshly filed with the City Secretary's Office.
Schutze posits the ethics question in a letter to Tom Perkins, city attorney of the city of Dallas.
UPDATE: Lynn Flint Shaw resigned Wednesday.
“This has been a challenging time for her and we know this was a difficult decision,” said Mayor Tom Leppert from Mexico. “We appreciate her continued service and commitment to making Dallas a better city.”

Hey, at least he's asking the questions, seeing that the DMN doesnt practice critical journalism anymore.

Schutze is the best investigative reporter in DFW, bar none. In the mold of what one used to read from the early 70s to late 80s, before massive corporate consolidation started to take place. When 'muckraker' was a compliment, not the pejorative of the winger set. What the current DMN staff reads about in history novels.
DART better watch out.

The current DMN editorial staff is too scared to even question their corporate overlords, they lack the spine of great journalists like murrow, woodward and bernstein combined. I quit reading DMN after they decided to become the Weekly Reader of newspapers

Not all that Leppert said from Mexico. He wants John Ware for her replacement:

Having recently moved from CHICAGO due to a job transfer, I was a little apprehensive that the political scene down here would be slightly mundane compared to all the shenanigans that go on in the Windy city... I must say that from what I've seen so far,I AM NOT HOMESICK !!!
