Frisco City Council to approve public park art, kill off some County Roads

If you hold County Road 712 in a special place in your heart, or you just think the name All Stars Avenue is ridiculous, this city council meeting is for you.

At its upcoming meeting on Tuesday, January 15th, the Frisco City Council will discuss the following items:

Public park art

Say goodbye to your sweet County Roads. It is the end of an era. The frontier has been colonized. THE MANIFEST DESTINY HAS BEEN MANIFESTED.
Say goodbye to your sweet County Roads. It is the end of an era. The frontier has been colonized. THE MANIFEST DESTINY HAS BEEN MANIFESTED.

The council will consider and act upon the approval of an agreement for artist’s service to create a work of Public Art for both the Humming Bird Neighborhood Park, the Crescent Neighborhood Park, and Stephen’s Green Neighborhood Park. What kind of art will be placed has been unspecified for now, as the council is merely requesting approval of the idea itself. These three parks have been cultivated over mid-2007 and their further development is imminent in 2008. Humming Bird Park is located near the intersection of Panther Creek Parkway & Hillcrest Road, while Stephen's Green park (formerly known as Stonelake Estates Park) is located near Eldorado Parkway and Custer Road.

Road name changes

New names for half dozen roads will be considered, including changing:

  • County Road 71 to Coit Road from FM 3537 to Eldorado Parkway.
  • County Road 712 to All Stars Avenue from North County Road to Frisco Street.
  • County Road 23 to Panther Creek Parkway from Honey Grove Drive to County Road 71.
  • County Road 112 to Independence Parkway from County Road 69 (Rolater Road) to FM 3537.
  • County Road 69 to Rolater Road from Coit Road to Independence Parkway.
  • Shepherds Hills Drive in the Preston Vineyards North Subdivision to Shepherds Hill Lane.
