Some folks in Stephenville think they may have seen a UFO.
They for sure saw a large object with bright lights, flying low and fast, on January 8. Since then, the encounter has blossomed into this AP story, which elevates the number of object-spotting folks to "several dozen." It also quotes a local saying that "this is the Bible Belt," and that he saw an object that was a mile long and half a mile wide, and says that other people in nearby towns saw something in the past few weeks, even though aviation officials suggest it was a reflection.
This site suggests that Stephenville has a history with that kind of thing.

I just love UFO flaps, and it's been too long since we had a good one. This later post from your cited Spooky Paradigm website explains the source of that non sequitur bit from the AP story which mentions people relating the sightings to the end times. It also tosses up the thrilling comparison between what's happening in Stephenville and the mass hysteria event that blossomed around the community of Point Pleasant, WV during the infamous Mothman episode (as chronicled by that wagster of the paranormal, John Keel). My favorite part about the AP story: the guy described the appearance of the UFO as it looked through the scope of his deer rifle! Only in Texas, my friends...

When the aliens come, we're taking them all down with a 30 ought 6. This is apparently the only way to prevent the end times.

Well thanks for the epic let-down this morning, pegnews. When I saw Zim as the pic on the lead story, I thought they might be bringing the show back. =(

Texas isn't the only place people hunt deer. There are some really stupid people on this forum. It was actually clever to use the telescope to view the object. I'm tired of camera phone blobs. Somebody has got to down one of these or get a good photo. Its bound to happen, even if its an unmanned narc spy dron, or maybe really an ET.

I'm sure that First Contact will happen because Billie Joe-Bob is going to take down an alien space craft with his 30-06.

Well, yeah. That would be the Texas way.

Even the History Channel is weighing in, for cripes sake, by following up with some of the original witnesses who're now saying that "the military's revelation actually bolsters their claims because several people did report seeing at least two fighter jets chasing an object."
Still, the only way for this whole thing to not slowly fade into the background buzz would be for further sightings to occur. And that's all up to the good residents in and around Stephenville. (Eyes to the sky, folks!)
