Grimaldi’s in Dallas’ West Village now open for lunch

Grimaldi's, the buzzy spin-off of the New York pizzeria that opened in West Village last month, is now open for lunch.

"Monday (January 14) was our first day to do lunch," said Heather who answered the phone. "But today (Thursday) has been our busiest day so far."

The lunch business got a spike from a TV spot on Fox 4 on Thursday morning, wherein Grimaldi's executive chef Cory Lattuca did a demonstration on how to make the restaurant's meatballs.

"But every day we're getting busier," she said.

Rod Dreher of the DMN, who came from Brooklyn had this to say, on the DMN Shopping blog, about "Grimaldi's":

"... here's some Brooklyn inside baseball: y'all are calling it "Grimaldi's," when in fact the Dallas restaurant is "Patsy Grimaldi's." It's not the same thing as the legendary pizza joint still operating under the Brooklyn Bridge on the Brooklyn side. It's a complicated story, and probably only important to transplanted New Yorkers, but people should know that the Dallas restaurant is a relative of the Manhattan Grimaldi's, not the Brooklyn Grimaldi's, which is a tad better in my estimation."
