Johnny Lloyd Rollins plays Sundance Film Festival ASCAP showcase

The Sundance Film Festival started last night in Park City, Utah. While everyone knows about the films, fewer are aware of the opportunity the festival presents for musicians and bands.

For the past ten years the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) has hosted the Music Café. The Music Café "is dedicated to showcasing the exceptional talent of new, emerging and established songwriters and artists, including solo acts and major bands, and is a place where independent filmmakers can meet and interact with film composers and songwriters to encourage collaboration between these two creative communities."

Originally held in the Elks Building, whatever that is, it was so popular they had to move it to another location. Needless to say, very important people in the film-making and production industries are provided the opportunity to view new talent. And performing for these industry VIPs will be Dallas' own Johnny Lloyd Rollins.

Johnny, with the company of his iconic red acoustic, will be playing on the penultimate day of Sundance, January 26, at 4:30 p.m. Other musicians playing over the course of the week include Jesca Hoop (beloved by Tom Waits), Pat Monahan of Train, Sondre Lerche (featured in Dan in Real Life movie), New Zealander Tim Finn, and the MySpace heavy-hitter in this crowd, Gavin DeGraw, among others.
