Confession in Farmers Branch drive-by obtained improperly, suspects receive lesser plea deal
In the latest installment of "how the law works," please consider Farmers Branch. Two men who were initially charged with capital murder when their 2006 drive-by shooting killed a toddler, have now been allowed to plea guilty to aggravated assault. Why the lesser plea? Because a Farmers Branch police officer improperly elicited a confession to the shooting during an interrogation for another charge. As such, the men will serve no more than 20 years in prison.
The guilty men are illegal immigrants. So, they might also be banned from renting in Farmers Branch after serving their sentences. I suppose justice is served after all.

Scott Doyle, says:
Per the DMN article:
*The men are illegal immigrants and will be deported after serving their sentences, officials said. Mr. Razo-Conejo's attorney, Donna Winfield, could not be reached for comment.*
I don't suppose there's a way to deport them from the north shore of Alaska, is there?
