Dallas-based Heritage Galleries sells mastodon skull for $191,200
Dallas-based Heritage Auction Galleries sold a mastodon skull with four tusks -- the "world's largest" -- for $191,200 at an auction on Sunday.
Discovered in a gravel pit in La Grange, Texas, the skull is so big, it has a name: "Lone Star." The skull is so big, it's described as being about as big as a Volkswagen. It's so big, well, suffice it to say that it's big.
It was part of a big history auction that also included a gold nugget from Mexico that was a foot long and sold for over $1 million.
