SMU men’s swimming Renholm earns automatic NCAA bid
Mustang swimmer Pontus Renholm earned an automatic qualification for the NCAAs Sunday at the 2008 Palo Alto Senior Circuit Meet.
Renholm swam an NCAA qualifying time of 56.75 in the prelims of the 100m back. The meet, held in long course meters, was Renholm's last shot at qualifying for the Swedish European Championship team. His time in the prelim was only 25 one-hundredths of a second behind the Swedish national record.
In the finals, Renholm was slightly slower, swimming the 100m back in 57.00.
The championship team will not be announced for a few more weeks, but Renholm hopes to be chosen.
The Mustangs are back in action Friday, Jan. 25 as they head to Ft. Worth to take on crosstown rival TCU.
