DALLAS The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has announced the winners for the awards to be presented at their 24th Annual Saint Valentine’s Day Luncheon & Fashion Show. The 2008 Spirit of Tom Landry Award winner is Ethan Ford and The Heart of Gold winner is Lynda Adleta. These two very deserving individuals will be honored at the Luncheon on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at the Adam’s Mark Hotel Dallas.
Ethan Ford was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on January 27, 2005 at the age of 5. At 8 years old, he is still bravely battling the disease. Even though Ethan loves elephants and has always wanted to work with animals, he has recently decided that what he really wants to do is be a doctor, find a cure for cancer and make sure that no other children have to be sick. Ethan will be finished with his treatments in the spring of this year and according to the Society, is the definition of what this award represents; a youth with courage, integrity, dignity and a dauntless spirit who has battled blood cancer through personal experience or who has volunteered extensively on behalf of others who suffer from blood cancer.
The Heart of Gold Award honors a distinguished individual who has courageously and relentlessly waged their personal battle with blood cancer and emerged as a triumphant survivor. Lynda Adleta, President and Broker/Owner of Adleta Fine Properties, is a two-time survivor of multiple myeloma and even during the toughest of times has remained committed to helping others. Lynda was elected to The Society’s Board of Trustees in 2002 and is a pillar in the real estate community as well as in the city of Dallas. Lynda has been an avid supporter of the Society’s Light The Night Walk and in the past five years Lynda and her team have contributed over $75,000 to this event.
