Plans by Dallas group for creation science degree draw debate
Initial approval for the Dallas-based Institute for Creation Research to offer an online master's degree in science education has sparked a heated debate over how to best teach science in the state of Texas. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has received well over 200 e-mails from people around the world arguing both sides of the issue.

Is the degree signed by Jesus?

What's the harm? Every other university in Texas is teaching evolution, is it really going to hurt to have 1 that teaches both evolution and creation? I highly doubt it.

The "harm" is that religious training and education belongs at church. Period. Religious doctrine is not science, and I'm truly sorry that you might think it is.
Texas will be the laughingstock of the world if we allow this...and worse, we will never be able to attract scientific or medical thoughtleaders or thinkers to our state. The ones who are here already, will leave.
But I guess that's what the bible-pounding Texas Taliban want.

The harm is that creationism isn't science. True, some researchers are actually trying to use the scientific method to reconcile the natural world with the teachings of the bible, but I'm betting they go home every day with a big headache.
This would essentially legitimize creation as a true science, which is crap. They can teach it all they want, but let's not hand out degrees on every street corner here.

What's the harm?!
The goal for creationists is to totally replace the teaching of evolution.
The simple truth is that creationism is NOT science and should not be taught as such.

Not to mention that their faith is so fragile that any intrusion from the "real world" that contradicts their beliefs may cause them to change religion, so instead of changing their belief, they just try to outlaw teaching the thing that contradicts their beliefs. I think they belong in a rubber room, not giving out degrees, but I'm not in charge of that...
