I never though a cockroach could be considered mistreated.

I never though a cockroach could be considered mistreated.

The SPCA busted a Marshall resident big time for neglecting over 200 animals kept on the resident's property. The animals included 26 hissing cockroaches, two bearded dragons, 68 dogs, 16 rabbits, 15 guinea pigs, 13 gerbils, 12 mice, 12 rats (although one may wonder if the mice and rats were pets, or just hanging around and got collected with everyone else), seven doves, seven horses, four hamsters, three chickens, three parakeets, two dwarf hamsters, two hedgehogs, two cockatiels, two goats, one lovebird, one African gray parrot, one sheep, one potbellied pig, one opossum, one frog, one pink toe tarantula, one millipede and a white nose coatimundi. The animals were reportedly living in filth, and many of them had various infections. The whole crew is currently being held at the McKinney SPCA, and the animals may be up for adoption soon. I call dibs on the coatimundi!

Akira Sato Jazz trumpeter Akira Sato, by way of Tokyo, Japan and Vancouver, Canada, is an SMU faculty member and director of The Meadow Jazz Orchestra at SMU. He is also an adjunct faculty member at UNT where he teaches jazz arranging. Sato is also heading into the studio soon with other area musicians and playing at the Scat Jazz Lounge tonight. With all that he's up to, the least you could do is order a Scotch on the rocks and chill to some tunes. (Photo by flickr user arteunporro. More info
