The public affairs folks at Southern Methodist University have responded to reports suggesting that an SMU-employed instructor was responsible for the surreptitious drugging of a student.

Stating that "the suspect in this case is not an SMU professor, instructor or staff member," the press release goes on to say that the student who was reportedly victimized is being offered assistance through the Office of Student Affairs, per routine procedure. The Dallas Police are also involved in an investigation of the events, which reportedly occurred during an off-campus study session.

Whether or not the suspect individual is directly employed by the university, he is apparently known to frequent the SMU campus, because he has (pending resolution of the investigation) been banned from entering campus grounds.
