Collin College celebrates African American History with talk by local religious scholar
La Convivencia refers to the rapprochement between diverse cultures and religious groups striving to live in peace and harmony in the Middle Ages in Spain. Collin College's Communications and Humanities department is organizing a series of events dubbed "Extending the Convivencia” which intersects nicely with their African American History Month. As a part of that slate of events, they will be hosting a lecture by local African American religious scholar Melanie Harris on Tues., Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. in Room C104 at the Spring Creek Campus in Plano.
Dr. Harris is assistant professor of religion at Texas Christian University. She will speak on the topic of “African American Religion and Ethics" at this free and open-to-the-public event.
