"The day Taft Parker tackled his one hundredth 48oz. Porterhouse, Coach Shula presented him with a commemorative football to honor this accomplishment. Taft Parker was able to eat his 100th with Coach by his side and Coach was able to personally thank Mr. Parker for being such a Raving Fan. Taft Parker has now eaten over 175 of our 48oz. steaks!" That's 525 pounds of meat, folks!
The new Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel and Spa is going for extra points with the announcement that the hotel will open a Shula’s 347 Grill. This marks the first Shula’s in North Texas, and a new restaurant concept for the area. Shula’s 347 is named in honor of Hall of Fame coach, Don Shula, the winningest coach in NFL history, with 347 career victories.
The 5,385 sq ft steak based restaurant will include a fully appointed 255-seat restaurant, high-impact bar and 24-seat private dining room. It is scheduled to open in mid-May, with an official celebration to follow.
“We are excited that the Sheraton has chosen Shula’s and about coming to Fort Worth --- our first concept in North Texas,” says Shula. “It’s a city rich with history and proud traditions, and we look forward to a successful partnership.”
Shula’s 347 is a casual atmosphere full of energy; and will include a bar with a high tech audio/video system. Shula’s 347 menu will consist of everything from gourmet salads, specialty fish to the “Shula Cut” Steaks. Shula’s custom cuts are second to none and use the same aging process from the legendary Shula’s Steak Houses.
Guneet Bajwa, executive vice president of Presidio Group, owner of the Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel and Spa, adds, “We are thrilled to be working with the Shula’s organization and are confident about the impact this exciting concept and quality brand will have at our Sheraton property.”
“Fort Worth is the perfect city for our 347 concept. It’s sophisticated, high tech and full of energy, but still casual, friendly and fun. I think it will be a huge success,” says David Shula, president of Shula Steak Houses, LP. “We are happy to be able to partner with Presidio Hotel Group and Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel and Spa and to have the opportunity to introduce our brand to North Texas.”
Shula Steak Houses, LP has four restaurant concepts including Shula’s 2 (upscale sports restaurant), Shula’s on the Beach (beach location brand with emphasis on steaks and seafood), Shula’s 347 (serving Shula’s custom cuts in a casual atmosphere), and Shula’s Steak House (fine dining steak house).
The newly renovated Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel and Spa, currently undergoing a $46 million transformation, is located at 1701 Commerce St. and scheduled to open May 15, 2008.
