Jubilee Theatre's Music and Reading Series is hosting Poetry On Another Level: The Words of Chuck Jackson this Monday, February 4. Poetry on Another Level is a grouping of dramatized monologues performed by Jackson based on his writings. The writings are based on stories told to Jackson throughout his life by men. The theme of the presentation is man and his relationship to his creator.
Chuck Jackson is a 21-year-old who grew up active in his Grandmother’s church, Stop Six’ Coming of Christ Pentecostal Church, and graduated recently from Texas Wesleyan. He learned how to perform in public while delivering sermons to the entire congregation while he served as a youth minister in his mid to late teens. He ranked 15th in the National Poetry Slam Competition this past year.
The evening’s Master of Ceremonies will be AJ Houston with a short performance starting the evening off by Fort Worth Slams’ founders: Mike Guinn, Janean Livingston, Anthony Douglas, and AJ Houston. The Fort Worth Slam Team has produced four semi-final teams, three individual finalists, one team finalist, and the only Individual Slam Champion in Texas, Janean Livingston.
