Pro-life ad running in Dallas targets Texas as swing state
Family Research Council spokesman says Dallas market was specifically chosen because "Obama is targeting Texas."
Via PoliTex, the right-wing, anti-choice Family Research Council is running a new ad in Dallas, citing that Texas may be a “potential swing state”:
The ad, from FRC Action, the legislative arm of the FRM, will run in Cincinnati and Dallas media markets. Now, picking Cincinnati isn’t exactly surprising. Ohio is the perennial swing state. But why Dallas?
“We were looking at potential swing states and those are the first two cities that we’ve chosen,” said Maria Donovan, a spokesperson for FRC Action, told us.
So FRC Action considers Texas a swing state?
“We know that Obama is targeting Texas,” Donovan said.

The Family Research Council makes me nauseous.
While I have little doubt Obama will win urban cities like Dallas, Houston and Austin I have little optimism he can win Texas as a whole. I do think it will be a lot closer here than in 2000 and 2004, though.

I'm all for using taxpayer money to fund abortions. Pretty sure a one-time abortion is cheaper than a life-long incarceration, or life-long welfare. Ok, sure lets save all the babies and put them in homes. Except let's forbid a segment of the population from adopting said babies even though foster homes are bulging.

I've always thought that if pro's want to stop abortions, they should put their efforts into stopping un-wanted pregnancies. (This may already be ongoing and I just don't hear of it)

Rick –Actually, from what I have seen as a pensive observer, they put quite a bit of effort into prevention. There is the signing of abstinence contracts and I believe the girls get some sort of promise ring to remind them of their oath, etc. Oh, and then there is that horrific display they call Hell House every Halloween where one of the rooms supposedly depicts an abortion taking place. I never have been a big fan of these “fear as a motivator” tactics, particularly when it relates to a higher power, although with the whole death cloud of AIDS hanging over us, it is almost impossible to avoid. The bottom line is that nothing can get in the way of raging hormones. Not even Jesus. So, good luck with that whole prevention thing. If we can’t make it work for grown ups, we surely won’t stop the teenagers.

I doubt you will find many pro-lifers handing out condoms and birth control pills. To them, the only way to prevent pregnancies is to prevent sex.
