The game was tied at 2-2 going into the top of the ninth, when legendary closer Mariano Rivera gave up a leadoff double to Ian Kinsler, who then stole third for his third stolen base of the night. Michael Young then singled in Kinsler for the game-winning run. C.J. Wilson then pitched a scoreless ninth for his 19th save in 21 chances.
Rangers starter Kevin Millwood pitched well for a short period of time, giving up just one run off five hits over five innings. Millwood walked one and struck out six.
Middle reliever Frank Francisco pitched a scoreless eighth for the win, and is now 2-2 with a 3.55 ERA.
Several Rangers had good days at the plate, including Kinsler, who went 2-for-3 with two walks, three stolen bases and the game winning run. Kinsler has now hit safely in 14 straight games.
Michael Young went 2-for-5 with the game-winning RBI, while rookie phenom Chris Davis once again made a difference, with an RBI single in the top of the second inning.
