WHITE ROCK HILLS Through the FRI grapevine this week comes word of a couple major busts in East Dallas:
First, this firsthand report from DPD Lieutenant Alan Bull:
Folks,
I don't like the all captial letters, but that's how it came thru when I copied. I did some editing to simplify for you. All this from a simple good 911 call. Help us - help you! Officers names are pseudonyms. We need your help. You know who belongs in your neighborhood. This was a suspicious person call where undercover officers followed him and watched him break into a residence where the homeowner was inside the house. And he had four burglary warrants already out for his arrest.
ON 6-25-08, ABOUT 1:18 PM, Arresting Officers RECEIVED A SUSPICIOUS PERSON CALL in the 2900 block of Shenstone. INVOLVING Arrested Persont BARNES. The CALLER STATED THERE WAS
A B/M WEARING A BLACK MUSCLE T-SHIRT AND HOLDING A RED T-SHIRT IN HIS HAND,
WALKING SOUTH ON LA PRADA AND KNOCKING ON DOORS. Undercover Officer Smith, WHO
WAS IN PLAIN CLOTHES AND DEPLOYMENT VEHICLE, OBSERVED THE Arrestee WALKING WEST
ON GROSS TOWARD SHILOH. Undercover Officer Jones, ALSO IN PLAIN CLOTHES, OBSERVED
THE Arrestee WALK UP TO THE FRONT DOOR OF 2710 GROSS AND KNOCK ON THE FRONT
DOOR FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. WHEN NO ONE ANSWERED THE DOOR, Arrestee THEN WALKED
TOWARD THE WEST SIDE OF THE HOUSE AND WALKED THROUGH A CLOSED GATE. Arrestee
THEN PRIED OPEN A BACK KITCHEN WINDOW BY UNKnown MEANS. Officers SURROUNDED THE PERIMETER OF THE RESIDENCE. Officer Anderson OBSERVED THE Arreste CLIMB OUT OF THE REAR WINDOW OF THE RESIDENCE. He WAS ARRESTED AND TAKEN TO JAIL.
The Homeowner WAS IN A FRONT BEDROOM DURING THIS OFFENSE.
The BURGLARY was INCOMPLETE BECAUSE THE homeowner WAS INSIDE THE
HOUSE WHEN THE arrestee ENTERED. THE arrestee SAW THE Homeowner AND IMMEDIATELY FLED THE LOCATION. Officer Baker SEIZED A FLASHLIGHT AND TOOLS FROM THE Arrestee
BECAUSE THEY WERE WERE USED IN THE BURGLARY.
Now, here's some more interesting stuff;
1. A/P WAS CONVICTED ON 11/14/02 ON CASE NUMBER F0175254 FOR BURGLARY OF A
HABITATION. A/P PLEADED GUILTY BEFORE THE DISTRICT COURT NUMBER 2, JUDGE
ADAMS. A/P RECEIVED 6 YEARS PROBATION AND A FINE OF $2500.00
2. A/P WAS CONVICTED ON 11/14/02 ON CASE NUMBER F0157269 FOR AGG ASSAULT
WITH A DEADLY WEAPON. A/P PLEADED GUILTY BEFORE DISTRICT COURT NUMBER 2,
JUDGE ADAMS. A/P RECEIVED 6 YEARS PROBATION AND A FINE OF $2500.00.
Gets even worse, and now you know why Officers become frustrated and cynical
A/P WAS ALSO ARRESTED FOR 4 Burglary of a habitation warrants wit a bond of $155,000. Yes, read those number again, $155,000.
A/P HAS DONE AT LEAST 40 BURGLARIES AND AT LEAST 20 ATTEMPTS
/P GAVE A VERBAL STATEMENT THAT HE HAS DONE AT LEAST 40 BURGLARIES AND AT LEAST 20 ATTEMPTS. NFI
Then, mere hours later came this report;
Another OUTSTANDING Burglary arrest that you need to hear about. We had some intelligence that a white pickup truck with three latin males was committing residential burglaries in the 220 sector.
Officers spotted them. Dallas undercover officers followed them up into the City of Richardson. Our undercover officers observed them commit a residential burglary in that city. Richardson PD notified, and both Richardson and Dallas Officers arrested.
One of the suspects has confessed to 75 burglaries, and we thought the 60 was bad.
Again, you know your neighbors. Help us - help you!
Take care, and ...
Thanks!
Alan Bull
