Enju designs by The Pin Show co-founder Julie McCullough Kim will be among those featured.
DEEP ELLUM The Pin Show 2008 will be Thursday, July 10, at The Door, formerly the Gypsy Tea Ballroom, in the historic Deep Ellum neighborhood. This fabulous Red Carpet event will feature 20 to 35 independent fashion and accessory designers on the runway and showcase over 150 upcoming designs. The show will also preview the best in local student design. Attendees will experience live photo shoots on two styled sets, network with designers and buy designs straight from the runway before they hit stores.
Independent Designers Rachel Nichelson and Julie McCullough Kim founded the Pin Show in 2007 to provide emerging fashion industry designers, photographers, artists, stylists and retail buyers a profound launching platform for independent work in the fashion industry. The Pin Show 2008 will be the first showcase and runway show.
The Pin Show gives regional boutiques and buyers an opportunity to view independent lines during one showcase, meet with designers and discuss future business opportunities. Realizing that Dallas is a central hub for fashion, it only made sense to create this new avenue for emerging talent that is located between New York and L.A. Not only will guests and retailers be the first to see latest in independent fashion, they will be supporting their local economies and businesses as each line is produced right here in Texas.
In addition, guests will have a unique fashion experience that is generally reserved for high-end designers and their clientele. The show is the first of its kind in the Southwest region to showcase a growing group of independent designers on an eco-friendly runway. Sharing the stage will also be Austin's DJ Class Prez with a musical piece exclusively for the event. Independent make-up artists, stylists, event coordinators, photographers, models and video producers will also be involved in the production of this completely independent fashion event.

Just FYI...The where under event info says the Prophet Bar but the article and website say it's at the Door.

Looks like it's a Prophet Bar event (basically meaning alcohol can be served) held in the big room of The Door. I've changed the "where" to reflect that.
Thanks for pointing that out!

There was WAYY too many people there. They should have had a limit. I ended up leaving around 8, the show hadn't started yet, but I couldn't take it anymore.
Did anyone brave it and see the whole thing?

I bought tix online so we wouldn't have to wait in line - Surprise! The line was half-way around the building and it didn't look like it was moving around 7:20. It was so hot, we decided we would catch it next year when all the kinks are worked out. Were you actually in the building by 8?

I was there...with my 5 and 6 year old. They were both in the show and had a LOT of fun. We had to be there early (6:15), so we only heard about the line.
