When the Coppell city council meets at 5:30 p.m. at city hall on Tues., July 8, they'll have a lot of stuff on their agenda, including a work session item exploring the applicability of serving alcohol at city-sponsored events.
Also during the work session, discussions will be held on the topics of the cemetery logo (I suppose "they're dying to get in" has been overused) along with park trail amenities and signage.
Following the work session, Michael Morris - Dir. of Transportation for the North Central Texas Council of Governments - will hold forth on regional transportation issues.
Consent agenda items include execution of funding for the Development Block Grant Funds Agreement with Dallas County (for fiscal years 2009, 2010 and 2011) and an ordinance abandoning some drainage easements at the SW corner of Denton Tap and Bethel.
Zoning change requests open to public hearing include provisions that would allow a convenience store (with gas pumps) to be built along the W. side of S. Belt Line (north of LBJ); re-occupancy of an existing vacant restaurant building at Sandy Lake and Denton Tap by two new ones (a Chipotle - YEAH, BABY! - and something called Mooyah Burger and Fries, in which the "and Fries" part seems to me rather redundant, because one simply can't imagine one's burger without them, but whatever); revision to the existing site plan for four monument signs (at Freeport Pkwy. and Bethel); and a "Single-family" to "Planned Devpt.-Retail" alteration to allow construction of a 2,600 sq. ft. medical office at Sandy Lake and Nash.
Also covered during the public hearing portion of the agenda will be:
* a site plan amendment allowing expansion of the CiCi's Addition at 1080 Bethel Rd.
* revision of the fire lane relating to the above
* approval of the Freeport Pkwy. right-of-way for that road's extension north of Sandy Lake to SH 121
* consideration of a change order to the Bethel Road Project in the amount of $120,836.68
Sounds like pretty dry stuff, except for that "alcohol at city-sponsored events" item.
After a few sessions like this one, the council might want to consider serving beer and wine at their actual meetings. (Or not.)
